New York City health officials say 36 people have been diagnosed with Legionnaires' disease in an outbreak centered in the Upper East Side. 22 people have been hospitalized, though no deaths have been reported. Inspectors have tested roughly 160 cooling towers, and any that test positive for Legionella bacteria must be cleaned and disinfected. Officials say residents are safe to continue drinking tap water and showering as normal.
